Refuge In Perspective

We believe in investing in the community we reside in and have been acquiring property for adequate space to fulfill our commitment to the community.  Refugees will provide services to the community that are desperately needed.  Our goal is to have a ministry that is open 6 days a week, not just during scheduled service hours.  Our desire is to beautify our community and believe the more property we own, the more services we can provide to ensure the visual improvements of our surroundings, leading to lower crime and increased community pride.  This will support the mission of the Pen Lucy/Govans Community Associations. 

 

We have established two corporations under the Refuge Way of the Cross Church, Inc. entity to aid in this direction.  The Community Development Corporation (CDC) focuses on projects that will enhance our community and those who live in it.  We have The Haven of Refuge Assisted Living Home with seven tenants, an eight-apartment low-income housing unit and two additional three-bedroom homes currently being used as offices that will be converted into transitional housing once the new church is completed in that CDC.  The second corporation, Refuge Invest Properties, is focused on the purchasing and restoration of abandoned buildings in our Pen Lucy/Govans communities and providing rooms for those in need.  We currently have one home with five bedrooms rented by men in the Refuge Investment Properties Corporation.

  • 511 E 43rd Street - 6 Apartment, 2 townhouse low income housing unit

  • 534 E 43rd Street - Presently church office. Future use: transitional housing

  • 600 E 43rd Street - Parsonage for Pastor; empty lot. part of church expansion

  • 602 E 43rd Street - Empty lot, part of church expansion

  • 604 E 43rd Street - Empty lot, part of church expansion

  • 605 E 43rd Street - Empty lot. Presently holds church furnishings

  • 606 E 43rd Street - Empty lot, part of church expansion

  • 701 E 43rd Street - Haven of Refuge Assisted Living, LLC
